About the UI : Information Service

The Institute's Information Service provides all kinds of information on the nuclear energy and uranium industries and on many related topics. These include energy and electricity supply issues, political issues, and relevant environmental issues, such as global warming. The Service can, when necessary, call on the experience and expertise of other secretariat staff and of the Institute's world-wide membership.

The Information Service welcomes enquiries from any interested party, by letter, fax or email. Please include as much detail as you can with your enquiry - this helps us to provide the most appropriate response. Remember to include your name, postal address and telephone/fax numbers even if you send your enquiry by email. All we ask of you is that, before you contact us, you take a few minutes to see if the information you need is already on this site (you can use our search facility).

The Uranium Institute's library houses a large collection of publications on non-technical aspects of the nuclear energy industry and related topics. The library catalogue lists over 20 000 items, including books, reports, monographs, journals, conference proceedings and CD-ROMS. The library also has access to some on-line sources and its own databases of reactor statistics and news summaries.

Subject areas covered by the library include:

  • energy and electricity supply and demand
  • supply and demand of nuclear materials
  • uranium geology, mining and ore processing
  • uranium and nuclear materials trade
  • the nuclear fuel cycle
  • radioactive waste management
  • law, regulation and government policies
  • public opinion
  • safety and environmental effects
